LENAPAH - An eight-run fifth inning helped Quapaw roll to an 11-3 victory over Foyil in the fifth-place game Saturday at the Oklahoma Union Invitational tournament.
The Bartlesville JV topped Afton 7-6 to finish seventh in the tournament.
Oklahoma Union topped Caney Valley 4-1 in the championship game.
Foyil jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the third inning, but the Wildcats tied the score in the bottom of the fourth.
Quapaw tied the game in the bottom of the fourth.
Cole Quick doubled and Morgan Morey singled. Both moved up a base on a wild pitch.
Cox singled home Quick with the Cats' first run.
The Panthers regained the lead in the top of the fifth with a two-run rally.
Quapaw broke the game open in the fifth, when it sent 12 batters to the plate while scoring eight times.
Scott led off the inning with a double. He motored to third on a wild pitch. Micah Robertson reached on an error. Both scored when Clayton Hart tripled.
Bacon walked, stole second then stole third as part of a double steal that saw Hart score.
Quick singled home Bacon before Morey and Rathjen delivered RBI singles. Cox reached on an error that allowed Morey to score.
Rotzal squeezed in Rathjen, then Scott drilled a RBI double that ballooned the score to 9-3.
The Wildcats picked up a final two runs in the sixth on a fly ball to center by Rathjen and a single by Cox.
Quick had a double and two singles for Quapaw, which also picked up two doubles from Scott, a double and single from Rathjen and two singles each from Morey and Cox.
Hart had a triple, Scott a double and Bacon chipped in with a single for the Cats.
Ironically, the Wildcats faced foyil again Monday in a regularly scheduled game.
Quapaw faces Wyandotte at 2:30 p.m. today in a first-round pool game in the Mickey Mantle Wooden Bat Classic.
