Life in Class 5A football could be VERY interesting for Miami.
If the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association board of directors accepts the recommended alignment during their board meeting today in Oklahoma City, the Wardogs will be in a district with Bixby, Tulsa Washington, Skiatook, Tulsa Rogers, Tulsa Hale, Pryor and Tulsa Kelley.
"It's scary to be in with Bixby and Booker T. (Washington), but on the other hand, we are in with Skiatook, Pryor and the others. We didn't want a situation where we had to drive to McAlester."
Miami's non-district schedule will include Wagoner, Jay and Grove, with the first two district games against Bixby and Washington.
The Spartans reached the 5A quarterfinals, losing to Guthrie. Washington was beaten in the first round of the 6A playoffs by Enid.
The new district alignments will be used for the 2008-09 seasons.
