FORT GIBSON - Shaking off the rust from a 20-day layoff, Miami's wrestling Wardogs tackle Fort Gibson here tonight.
“We've had some really good practices since Christmas,” Miami coach Justin Gibson said. “We've practiced every day except for the last two Sundays. The kids' weights are under control right now. They're working really hard.”
Miami beat Pryor 34-26 to finish third in its Mudville Duals, which ran Dec. 15-16.
Justin Herd, Jed Gibson, Jacob Sharbutt and Miles Anderson all went 9-1 in the tournament.
Fort Gibson was seventh in the Oklahoma wrestling coaches' 3A dual team and tournament rankings that were released just prior to the Christmas break.
“There for while, we were always putting a whupping on them, but they have gotten better and better,” Justin Gibson said.
The Wardogs' probable lineup will include Tim Hall at 103, Miles Anderson at 112, Colby Anderson at 119, Jon Smith at 125, Aaron Weaver at 130, Blaine Fields at 135, Eli Marquez at 140, Jed Gibson at 145, Trevor Shamblin at 152, Matt McClain at 160, Kevin Helton at 171, Herd at 189, Sharbutt at 215, and Jimmy Brock at heavyweight.
Miami entertains McDonald County, Mo., Tuesday night.
