PRYOR — Miami’s Jordan Paxson and Rachel Stewart were second in No. 2 doubles at the Pryor Invitational tennis tournament Wednesday.
Shelby Jurgensmeyer was third in No. 2 singles while Hannah Swan was fifth in No. 2 singles. The Lady Wardogs’ No. 2 doubles team of Katie Osborn and Laura Chesnut also were fifth.
Paxson and Stewart topped the team from Sperry 6-2, 6-0 in the first round then rolled 6-3, 6-3 against Grove. Claremore posted a 6-4, 6-4 victory in the finals.
Jurgensmeyer defeated Harris of Pryor 6-3, 6-2 in her first match but suffered a 6-3, 6-3 loss to Noble of Nowata in the semifinals. She bounced back to top Mallory of Claremore, 6-1, 6-1.
Swan stumbled in the first round, falling 6-3, 6-3 to Perez of Nowata but came back to beat McCurtain of Claremore 6-2, 6-1 in the consolation semifinals and Clifton of Sperry 6-1, 6-0 in the fifth-place match.
Osborn and Chesnut fell to Claremore 6-2, 6-4 then ran off consecutive wins against Sperry, 6-0, 6-1, and Pryor, 6-1, 6-1.
The Lady Wardogs return to action Wednesday, hosting the Miami Invitational at the LaFortune Park courts in Tulsa.
