BLUEJACKET — A 33-23 edge in the middle two quarters helped carry Commerce to a 59-55 victory over Bluejacket in a Lucky 7 Conference basketball game here Tuesday night.

“We played tired, but Bluejacket played well,” Commerce boys’ coach Tom Fenderson said.

Bluejacket jumped out to a 19-17 lead in the first quarter but CHS held a 10-6 edge in the second period and outscored the Chieftains 23-17 in the third frame.

The hosts created the final margin with a 13-9 advantage over the last eight minutes.

‘It was a dogfight,” Fenderson said.

Joey Bowling and Luis Arizpe had 12 points each for the Tigers, who also received nine fromm Blake Witten and eight from Kyler Ng.

Skyler Humble netted 13 points for the Chieftains, with David Prine adding 12. Dylan Woods finished with nine points.

Bluejacket plays Watts at 3 p.m. today at the Miami Activity Center in a Boys’ Blue game in the Northeastern A&M High School Basketball Tournament.

The Tigers return to Sarcoxie, Mo., Friday to face  Joplin (Mo.) College Heights Christian at 8 p.m.

They finish up play in the Sarcoxie tournament with a 6 p.m. game with Exeter, Mo.

CHS opened the round-robin tournament with a 63-47 romp over Sarcoxie Monday night.
