FAIRLAND — Four players scored in double figures as Fairland clipped Afton 62-47 in a Lucky 7 Conference basketball game here Tuesday night.
Jesse Drosche had 13 points and J.C. Morrow, Jacob Bryant and Jordan Alexander added 12 points apiece for the Owls, who improved to 10-2 overall and 5-2 in league play.
“My hat’s off to them … they played their way back into the game,” Fairland coach Justin Goins said. “That’s the most balanced scoring we’ve had.”
Fairland led 19-3 after the first quarter then coasted into the half with a 25-18 advantage.
The Owls held a 17-13 edge in the third period, then outscored Afton 20-16 over the final eight minutes of play.
Brandon Jones picked up 16 points and Dusty Henry contributed 10 for the Eagles.
Both schools are entered in the Northeastern A&M High School Basketball Tournament that begins Thursday.
The Owls play Tulsa Wright Christian at 6 p.m. at the Civic Center in a Boys’ Gold bracket game.
Afton tests Foyil at 4:30 p.m. at the Civic Center in Boys’ Blue bracket play.
