WYANDOTTE - The Wyandotte girls overcame a slow start with a decisive second quarter to gain a 48-30 win over the Fairland Lady Owls Monday night.

The Lady Bears struggled the first eight minutes and trailed the Fairland girls 5-2 after the first period, but a 17-5 advantage in the second frame catapulted WHS to a 19-10 lead at the half.

The Lady Bears trailed 8-4 after a pair of free throws by FHS's Brooke Kerns at the 6:12 mark of the period, but from that point on it was all Wyandotte.

The Lady Bears finished the quarter on a 15-2 run capped by a Alex Neal trey for a nine point lead at the break. Neal led the blitz for WHS scoring nine of the total 17 points during the eight minute span.

In the the third, the two teams matched each others output but in the final frame the Lady Bears pulled away.

Wyandotte put the game away with a 16-2 run and gained a 20-point lead (48-28) after a Jesse Stone trey with just under a minute to play.

Neal led all scorers on the night with 15, while Kerns paced the Lady Owls with 10.
