Vinita held Miami to its lowest point output of the season Saturday night during a 62-21 romp at the Dogdome.

The Lady Wardogs' previous low had been 23 in a loss to Grove here on Jan. 8.

Miami now has dropped 10 straight games after opening the season with three straight victories.

The Lady Wardogs, who played four times over a six-day span, are off until Thursday, when they meet Wagoner in a 6 p.m. Girls' Gold game in the Northeastern A&M High School Basketball Tournament.

Miami never led, but the Lady Wardogs created a 4-4 tie with 4:29 left in the opening quarter when Emily Cline drove for a layup.

The Lady Hornets got a free throw from Keke Daggs at the 3:27 mark, starting a 10-2 spree that gave the visitors a 14-6 advantage.

A bucket by Kelsey Neal at 4:41 of the second frame pulled Miami to within five, but Vinita scored the final 14 points of the half to open up a 30-11 advantage.

The Lady Hornets outscored MHS 23-7 in the third quarter to push their lead to 53-18 heading into the final stanza. Miami got five of its seven points in the first 2:26 of the quarter, got a bucket from Alyssa Johnson at 3:15 then went scoreless the rest of the way.

Vinita nailed down the win with a 9-5 edge over the final eight minutes.

Cline, Johnson and Faith Wilkins scored four points each for the Lady Wardogs.

Tosha Tyler and Kelby Fritz scored 17 and 16, respectively, for Vinita.
