Allowing double-digit scoring in all four quarters, Miami High School's Lady Wardogs dropped a 67-38 decision to the Roland Lady Rangers in the NEO Student Activities Center Thursday night in the opening round of the Northeastern A&M High School Basketball Tournament.

Coach JohnCarl Morgan's Lady Wardogs face Tulsa Hale's Lady Rangers at 4:30 p.m. today in the Civic Center.

Tulsa Hale defeated Tulsa Victory Christian 44-31 Thursday afternoon in the tournament's first round.

Roland jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the first three minutes of the opening quarter.

A 3-pointer by Jenny Beshoner, along with regular field goals by Jasmine Kirkwood and Amanda Williams, ignited the Lady Rangers outburst.

After a field goal by Miami's Katie Osborn, Roland received consecutive baskets by Jamie Morgan, Kendra Manager, Katie Beshoner and Lauren Edwards to build a 15-3 cushion with 2:42 left in the first quarter.

A 3-point field goal by Alyssa Johnson, along with a regular field goal by Emily Cline and a solo free throw by Kenna Laxton, rallied the Lady Wardogs to a 17-9 deficit with 29 seconds remaining in the first quarter.

Katie Beshoner canned a 3-pointer and Erika Edwards scored on a putback as the Lady Rangers carried a 22-9 lead into the second quarter.

While limiting Miami to only five points in the second quarter, Roland received six points from Erika Edwards and three points by Katie Beshoner, along with field goals by Lauren Edwards, Williams, Katie Matlock and Kirkwood, to carry a 39-14 cushion to the locker room at halftime.

Four points by Laxton and a solo free throw by Cline accounted for Miami's points in the second quarter.

Four free throws and two field goals by Katie Beshoner increased Roland's lead to 47-19 with 4:31 left in the third quarter.

Field goals by Johnson and Cline, along with a single free throw by Osborn, created a 51-24 deficit at the 2:22 juncture in the third period.

Roland received a 3-pointer from Brittany Hudson and a layup by Williams to maintain a 56-25 advantage entering the final quarter.

Six points by Meagan Roberts, along with three free throws by Sarah Rhodes and a basket by Johnson and two free throws by Cline, enabled the Lady Wardogs to outscore the Lady Rangers by a 13-11 margin in the fourth quarter.

Cline led Miami with eight points while Johnson and Laxton scored seven points each and Roberts added six points.

Katie Beshoner paced the Lady Rangers with 17 points while Erika Edwards added 10.
