The Muskogee Rougher Festival is just what Miami needs heading into its football season opener with Rogers, Ark., according to head coach Chris Risenhoover.
“We'll see the speed we've got to play up to,” Risenhoover said.
Sallisaw and Tahlequah will join host Muskogee in the dress rehearsal on Friday at Muskogee's Indian Bowl.
Freshman and JV players will take the field at 5 p.m.
Since Miami faces Sallisaw at Robertson Field on Week 2, the two teams will run a 12-play scrimmage at 6 p.m.
The Wardogs then will meet Muskogee at 7:15 p.m. in a 30-minute, two-quarter mini-game. That will be followed with another mini-game with Tahlequah.
“It's a matter of us going over there and competing and playing hard,” Risenhoover said. “We're going to see quality teams like this week in and week out.”
The Wardogs started their in-school routine of afternoon practices Monday. However, they're going to work out for 90 minutes tonight at 7 p.m.
