Bryson Braziel, who scored a touchdown for the Green team in last year's Oklahoma Eight-Man Football Coaches Association all-star game, was killed Sunday in a vehicle-pedestrian accident in Alex.

Braziel, a 2007 graduate of Alex High School, had six carries for 36 yards and a second-quarter touchdown in a 42-26 victory by the Green all-stars.

His former coach, Jim Kerbo, is associate director of the OEMFCA.

Deputy Sean Knight, of the Grady County Sheriff's office told the Chickasha Express-Star: “We received a call that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle at approximately 1 a.m. on Sunday. The accident happened near the 700 block of Lake Street. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene and was later arrested for leaving the scene of a fatality accident and is currently being held in the county jail.”

Knight said the driver and the victim left the same party, just prior to the incident.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers said Braziel died after stepping in front of a pickup in an attempt to stop it when he was struck and killed.

The driver of the pickup, Justin Lee Tillman, 20, of Chickasha fled the scene, according to the patrol, and was later arrested.

Troopers said Braziel died at the scene.

The 2008 OEMFCA all-star game will be played July 19 at Commerce High School. Coaches will arrive Monday and players will check in Tuesday afternoon.
