Monday's torrential rain forced a one-day delay in the start of the Miami First National Bank Invitational
“We may do it tomorrow, but we might have to wait until Wednesday,” Miami coach Rusty Mercer said Monday morning.
Four games are scheduled daily with action starting at 11 a.m. at Joe Pollock Field.
Will Rogers faces Ketchum in the opener
Other first-round games include Verdigris vs. Pryor at 1 p.m.; Locust Grove vs. Grove at 3 p.m. and Jay vs. Adair at 5 p.m.
The Miami Invitational tennis tournament originally had been scheduled for Monday but was bumped a day on Friday by tournament director Jim Paxson after he learned the forecast called for a good chance of rain.
“We looked at the weather last week and decided to push everything back a day,” Paxson said. “We called people and it worked out to play it Tuesday.”
As a result, the girls' tournament now will be played today with the boys' half of the tournament on Wednesday. Both will be staged at Tulsa's LaFortune Park courts.
Miami HIgh School's Verdigris Valley Conference game at Jay was a casualty of the weather. Wardog coach Chris Mercer said he's hoping the game can be made up Wednesday,
Also postponed were baseball games pitting Commerce at Fairland and Redlands at Northeastern A&M.
