LENAPAH - Junior center Natasha Larsen scored 16 total points to lead the Afton Lady Eagles to a 51-40 victory Tuesday night over the Oklahoma Union Lady Cougars in the Cougar gymnasium.
Weather permitting, coach Ronnie Maples' Lady Eagles travel to Wyandotte on Thursday for a 6:30 p.m. makeup game with the Lady Bears.
Oklahoma Union grabbed a 12-10 lead in the first quarter on 3-point field goals by Whitney Gibson and Kelsey Stacy along with regular field goals by Whitney Gibson, Shelby Davis and Kelcie Wheat.
Four points each by Larsen and Ashley Carroll along with a field goal by Cassie Miller accounted for Afton's points in the first quarter.
During the second quarter the Lady Eagles received two field goals and a pair of free throws from Macy Gibson along with a lay-up by Miller and a put-back from Larsen to construct a 20-18 halftime margin.
Whitney Gibson canned a 3-pointer and a free throw while Hannah Kulp added a lay-up to allow the Lady Cougars to remain close during the second quarter.
Relying on their inside game in the third quarter, the Lady Eagles received eight points from Larsen and five from Macy Gibson along with a basket by Katie Shaul to increase their lead to 35-29 entering the fourth quarter.
Four points each by Chelsea Benson and Keeley Gibson and a field goal plus free throw by Wheat provided Oklahoma Union's points during the third quarter.
Shaul tallied six points and Macy Gibson contributed four as Afton outscored Oklahoma Union by a 16 to 11 margin in the final eight minutes.
Afton with Larsen's 16 points, the Lady Eagles received 15 points from Macy Gibson, Shaul 8, Carroll 6 and Miller 6.
Whitney Gibson paced the Lady Cougars with 11 points along with Benson 8, Wheat 7, Keeley Gibson 6, Stacy 3, Davis 3 and Kulp 2.
