WYANDOTTE - Wyandotte broke a two game losing skein with a 10-hit attack and solid pitching leading to a 12-4 six-inning run-rule win over the Colcord Hornets here Wednesday afternoon.

Senior Tyler Kauffman and sophomore Michael Weisinger paced the Bear hitters with three hits each. Weisinger was a perfect 3-for-3 at the dish with two RBI, while Kauffman stroked three singles in four at-bats with a RBI to pace the Bears to their first win of the 2008 season.

Senior Kurtis Young combined with Kauffman on the mound to hold the Hornets to four hits. Young worked the first three innings and Kauffman finished the final three with both allowing two hits apiece.

Colcord got an early lead after scoring a run in its first at bat on a RBI sacrifice ground ball.

The Bears (1-2) answered in their half of the first with four tallies to take the lead for good. Young led off with a bunt single and later scored on a Brandon Poindexter fielder's choice ground ball.

Jerry Pettus walked and Kauffman singled before Weisinger stroked a RBI single for a 2-1 Bear lead. Brycen Johnston cracked a single to score Kauffman before Weisinger later scored on a passed ball for the 4-1 advantage.

The Hornets scored a lone run in the top half of the third after a pair of walks and a RBI single before the Bears scored a pair of tallies in their half the third.

Johnston reached on a fielder's choice ground ball and later scored on a passed ball.

The Bears travel to Fairland Friday for games starting at 4 p.m.
