Fairland’s Troy Jones struck gold at the Oklahoma Football Coaches Association small school powerlifting state meet at McLoud.
Jones had a total of 905 pounds to take honors in the 132-pound weight class.
Spencer Johnston of Afton finished third in the 242-pound class and Clayton Hurst of Bluejacket was fourth at 132.
Jones had a squat of 325 pounds, a bench press of 165 and a deadlift of 415 pounds (tops in his weight class).
He held off Orlando Galvan of Pocola to take honors. Galvan finished with 900 pounds total.
FHS teammate Tony Short was seventh at 198, Spencer Anderson 15th at 181 and Cody Taylor 20th at super heavyweight.
Short’s total was 1,210 pounds. He had a squat of 450 pounds (fourth best in his weight), a bench press of 280 and a deadlift of 480.
Anderson’s three lifts totaled 1,035 pounds — 370 in the squat, 225 in the bench press and 440 in the deadlift.
Taylor had lifts of 350 in the squat, 240 in the bench press and 445 in the deadlift for a total of 1,035 pounds.
Johnston’s deadlift of 765 pounds was second best in his weight and he was fourth in the bench press at 290.
Johnston’s 475-pound effort in the squat gave him a total of 1,285 pounds.
Hurst finished with a total of 870 pounds. He had a squat of 325, a bench press of 190 and a deadlift of 355 pounds.
Hurst also had finished fifth in the Oklahoma Eight Man Football Coaches Association powerlift meet.
Chris Hofschulte of Wyandotte was eighth at 168 pounds, finishing with a three-lift total of 1,090 pounds. He had a 390 in the squat, 250 in the bench and 450 in the deadlift.
Placing 10th at 242 pounds was Travis Eads of Commerce. His bench press of 300 pounds was third best overall. He also had a squat of 405 pounds and a deadlift of 465.
Bo Waggoner of Welch placed 11th at 275 pounds. His bench press of 330 pounds was good for second in his class. Waggoner also had a squat of 435 pounds and his best deadlift was 470 pounds.
Quapaw’s Larry DeSilva was 12th in the 123-pound class. His 745 pound total included 265 in the squat, 160 in the bench press and 320 in the deadlift.
D.J. Mullineaux of Bluejacket placed 14th at 145 pounds. He posted lifts of 285 in the squat, 250 in the bench and 400 in the deadlift for an 890 total.
Mullineaux was fifth in the eight-man state meet.
Jacob Seigel of Welch claimed 14th at 220 pounds. His bench press of 350 pounds was fifth best. He also had a 410-pound squat and a 450-pound deadlift for a 1,170 total.
Josh Hurley of Quapaw claimed 17th at 145 with a total of 870 pounds. He had a 325 in the squat, 185 in the bench and 360 in the deadlift.
Welch’s Jake Gower wound up 18th at 198 with a 1,080 total. His deadlift was 350 pounds and he had a 260 in the bench press and 470 in the deadlift.
Okemah won the team title with 46 points. Haskell was second with 34 and Dewar claimed third with 32.
