GROVE — Living up to their No. 11 ranking, the Grove girls blasted Miami 77-22 in the Class 4A Area IV District 8 tournament here Friday, Feb. 21.

The Lady Ridgerunners scored the first 17 points in the game and were up by 26 at intermission.

Miami didn’t get its first point until the 1:30 mark of the first quarter on a free throw by Beca Hopping and didn’t get its first field goal until 8:37 into the game on a shot by Maddie Arnold.

Grove carried a 41-15 lead into the half and was ahead 62-19 after three periods.

The Lady Wardogs’ only points in the fourth quarter was a 3-pointer by Sara Acupan.

Cali Mercer was Miami’s top scorer with eight points and Arnold contributed six.

Hopping and Acupan scored five and three points, respectively, for the Lady Wardogs.

Rory Geer accumulated 34 points in only three quarters for the Lady Ridgerunners.

She had 12 each in the first and second frames and finished with 10 in the third.

Grove also picked up 13 points from Kelley Boyett and 10 from Dawn Blake.

The Lady Wardogs (6-16) face Jay Thursday, Feb. 27 at 1:30 p.m. in an elimination game here.

Jay suffered a 55-38 loss to Tulsa Holland Hall in District 5 play at Saturday night in Tulsa.

This will be the second meeting with the Lady Bulldogs in
