MIAMI — Northeastern A&M wraps up the regular season with the Norseman Open Saturday, Feb. 8 in the Glen Wolfe Student Activity Center.

Golden Norse coach said just who will be competing wouldn’t be known until noon Friday.

“We’ll have quite a few teams registered, any one from the University of Oklahoma, OSU Central Oklahoma, Fort Hays (Kansas) State to a lot of NAIA and junior colleges.”

Action starts at 9 a.m. and will run straight through to the finals, Renfro said.

The Golden Norsemen are sixth in the current NJCAA Wrestling Coaches Association poll behind Western Wyoming Community College, North Iowa Area Community College, North Idaho College, Iowa Western Community College and Clackamas (Oregon) Community College.

Seven of NEO’s 10 wrestlers are included in the InterMat community college individual rankings: Mikey Mascarenas, third, 133; Blake Gonzalez, third, 141; Johnny Trowbridge, fourth, 157; Jayden Smith, third, 174; Dayton Fields, eighth, 184; Colben Dodson seventh, 197, and Dan Baker, sixth, 285.

Next up for the Norsemen will be the West Central qualifier on Saturday, Feb. 22, which Northeastern A&M will host for the first time.

The top four in each weight will advance to the NJCAA National Championships at Council Bluffs, Iowa, March 6-7.
