DES MOINES, Iowa — The Northeastern A&M wrestling team had two first-place finishers for the second straight week, this time at the Grand View Open here Saturday, Nov. 16.

Mikey Mascarenas and Jayden Smith took first at 133 and 174 pounds, respectively, Scott Radke second at 157 and 285-pounder Dan Baker third.

Blake Gonzales and Seth Seago placed fourth, Shawn Tillman fifth and Michael Kumlien sixth for NEO.

Mascarenas rolled to an 11-4 decision against University of Providence (Montana) freshman Clayton Gilliam.

Mascarenas got a tech fall, fall and two major decisions on his way to the finals.

Jayden Smith pinned Iowa State freshman Nolan Harsh at 3:18 of the 174 final.

That was his third fall in five matches. Smith also had a decision and major decision.

Radke suffered a 6-3 loss to Andrew Gamble of Iowa Central Community College in the finals at 157 pounds.

Baker, who was first at last week’s Oklahoma City University Open, got a 15-4 decision over Seago in the heavyweight third-place clash.

Preston Wiest of William Penn (Iowa) University won by medical forfeit against Gonzales.

Tillman was a 5-2 winner against Brock Parker of Loras (Iowa) College.

Robert Hall Jr. of Iowa Lakes Community College was a medical forfeit winner over Kumlien.

Other Norsemen wrestling but not placing were Dalen Moore, Barrett Stickelman, Riley Weir, and Jeffri Juanes, 125; Isaiah Jacobs, Tanner Gregory, Luke Montgomery and Laif Jones, 133; Zach Porter, Austin Johnson, Elijah Jacobs and Gage Hight, 149; Tyson Smith and Christian Knighton, 157; Jon Trowbridge, Nolan Saale, Elijah Cherry and Nosa Johnbull, 165; Seth Sarasua and Dayton Fields, 184, and Logan Hall and Colben Dodson, 197.

The Golden Norse compete in the Lindenwood Open, Saturday, Nov. 23 at St. Charles, Missouri.
