QUAPAW — Mya Nichols’ squeeze bunt drove in Karissa Anderson with the winning run as Quapaw nipped Fairland 3-2 in a 10-inning fast pitch softball marathon here Monday, Sept. 10.
Fairland was up 2-1 heading into the fourth, when the Lady Warriors tied the game on a one-out home run by winning pitcher Jenni Jennings.
Grace Goins led off the Fairland 10th with a single, but Jennings got a popup, strikeout and grounder to short to get out of the inning.
Karissa Anderson was hit by a pitch to start the Quapaw half of the inning.
She stole second and after a strikeout and fly ball, Anderson stole third and scored on Nichols’ bunt back to pitcher Jordan Gates.
Jennings worked all 10 innings, allowing six hits with eight strikeouts and two walks.
The Lady Owls had four hits off Gates, who logged 12 strikeouts and walked one.
Jennings had two singles and Nichols and Jenna Kerley each added a base hit.
The Lady Owls got two singles from Kyndall Davis, a double from Scout Mayfield and a single each from Gates and Goins.
