BLUEJACKET — Quarterback Coy McGlasson threw for seven touchdowns and Bluejacket claimed a wild 58-54 victory over Watts here Friday, Aug. 31.
The Chieftains got the game-winning touchdown with less than two minutes remaining.
“They jumped on us 22-0 and then I had to talk a little louder to them, so to speak, and they dug deep and rallied,” Chieftain head coach Lee Bluejacket said. “We have hardly no experience on the team, so that was great seeing them respond like that.”
The Engineers jumped out to a 22-6 lead in the first quarter, but saw that melt to 28-22 by intermission.
Bluejacket scored 22 points in the third quarter and carried a 44-34 lead into the fourth quarter.
“We scored last then held them – then did victory formation,” Lee Bluejacket said.
McGlasson completed 15 of 27 passes for 286 yards and the seven TDs. He had only one interception.
The point total was the most in a game for the Chieftains since 2013, when they and Welch combined for 112 in a 78-34 Bluejacket win.
The school record is 118 in a 74-44 win over Carney in 2012.
Junior Johnny Estes caught five passes for 162 yards and four scores.

On top of everything else, McGlasson was the Chieftains’ defensive leader 24 tackles, eight solo and 16 assists.
