Rain has wreaked havoc with area high school softball games.
Miami’s District 4A-6 double-header at Stilwell on Thursday, Aug. 16 was cut short by rain.
The Lady Wardogs won the opener 7-3, but the nightcap was suspended in the top of the fourth inning with MHS leading 4-3.
The game will be completed at a later date.
The Will Rogers Middle School games in a tournament at Claremore have been scrapped.
Officials hope to get games in tomorrow, according to Miami athletic director Chad Davis.
Bluejacket’s games with Nowata on Thursday, Aug. 16 were cancelled when high winds caused tree damage at the Lady Chieftains’ field.
“We evacuated our teams to the new gymnasium that has a storm shelter large enough to easily accommodate everyone,” said Bluejacket coach Shawn Martin.
Fairland’s fast-pitch game at Welch on Thursday was suspended by lightning and rain with none out in the bottom of the fifth inning.
The Lady Owls were ahead 6-1.
In games that were completed Thursday, it was Commerce 7, Colcord 5, and Wyandotte 11, Foyil 2.
Wyandotte’s games with Ketchum on Friday, Aug. 17, has been cancelled.
The site for the Chelsea-Afton may be flipped with the game played at Chelsea, according to coach Bobby Shinn.
Welch will play in a festival at Kellyville on Saturday, Aug. 18.
The Lady Wildcats face Mounds at 2 p.m. and Davenport at 4:30 p.m.
