VINITA — Nine local players will participate in the annual Lake O’ the Cherokees All-Star Classic.
The games will be held Thursday, May 10 at the James E. Sooter Activity Center in Vinita.
This will be the fourth year for the game to use its current format of light vs. dark jerseyed teams.
The teams split games last year, the dark girls rolled to a 73-54 win in the opener while the light boys breezed 100-85.
Among the local players who will participate are Ryan Cooper, Wyandotte; Kaleb Jinks, Eli Lewis and Kai Hamilton, Miami; Justin Pape, Bluejacket; Olivia Chenoweth and Aspen Wood, Welch, and Skyler Hicks and Carlee Shinn, Afton.
Joining Cooper, Jinks and Lewis on the light team roster are Riley Bingham and Jaedon Lambert, Vinita; Jaston Fields, Kansas; Tyler Goins, Ketchum; Kyndall Keys, Chouteau; Gabe Simpson, Jay, and Max Tyer, Oaks.
Tony Roach and John Treat of Vinita will be the coaches.
In addition to Hamilton and Pape, the dark roster includes John Cooper, Jay; Victor Holleyman, Salina; Max Jordan and Kobe Robinson, Pryor; Jayden Martin, Ketchum; Brandon Miller, Chouteau, and Jaydon Robbins, Oaks.
Terry Sweeney of Jay and Tony Arnold of Oaks will be the coaches.
In addition to Chenoweth, the light girls’ roster includes Maggi Brown, Ketchum; Callie Callihan and Jade Frazier, Jay; Sarah Cochran, Emily Drumm and Hannah Tweed, Chouteau; Abby James and Blair Kerns, Salina, and Teri Leaf, Kansas.
Whitney Walker of Jay and Adam Klucevsek of Chouteau will be the coaches.
Hicks, Shinn, Wood, Jaiden Beaver and Mattie Soldier, Oaks; Grace Burget and Dakota Jeffries, Vinita; Mady Kraft and Mackenzie Woods, Grove, and Aydin Tucker, Kansas, make up the dark girls’ team, which will be coached by Bobby Shinn of Afton and Shawn Goodwin of Welch.
The girl’s game will tip off at 6:30 p.m., followed by the boys at 8.
