AFTON — Just days after learning she had earned a spot in the National Federation of State High School Association’s record book, Carlee Shinn of Afton was named to the Oklahoma Girls Basketball Coaches Association Small East all-state team.

Shinn, who signed with Northeastern Oklahoma A&M last month, was one of 15 players selected for the Small East team.

Rosters for the Small West as well as Large and Middle all-star teams were announced Friday, March 30.

Shinn shared offensive player of the year in the Lucky 7 Conference with Olivia Chenoweth of Welch.

That marked the third straight year Shinn was the offensive MVP.

She scored 1,427 points in her Lady Eagle career.

Shinn had 351 points and 105 rebounds this past season, along with 111 steals.

Joining her on the Small East team were Claire Chastain, Dale; Lauren Ramey, Kiefer; Raven Blackbear, Mounds; Makayla Melton, Kiefer; Darcie McCullar, Red Oak; Gavriel Myers, Caney Valley; Lexi Wall, Mounds; Mikayla Rutland, Dale; Ryann Cochran, Tushka; Jocee Sparks, Maud; Kimberly Motley, Crowder; Shelby Gentry, Konawa; Christian Wind, Varnum, and Justyn Lynn, Howe. Deric Longan of Caney Valley and Rattan’s Michael Clay will be the coaches.

Shinn converted on 32 of 44 free throw chances in a Dec. 7, 2017, game against Fairland in the Afton Coca Cola Classic.

Shinn shares first with Adrian McGowen of Goodrich, Texas, with 44 free throws attempted in a game.

McGowen also made 44 trips to the free throw line in 2004 in a game against Martinsville, Texas.

Shinn is third with most free throws made in a game, 32.

McGowen converted on 35 of her attempts.

Jessica Keller of Belle, Missouri, hit 33.

The three All-State games are set for Saturday, June 2, at Westmoore High School.

Former Quapaw coach Rick Ott, who died in 2016, was named to the OGBCA hall of fame along with former Ketchum coach Larry Callison.
