MIDWEST CITY — Remaining undefeated in the Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference, No. 16 ranked Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College won a softball double-header Saturday, March 24, 7-3 and 5-4 over Rose State College at Lady Raider Field.

With the sweep the Lady Norse are a perfect 8-0 in the conference and 20-6 on the season. NEO is 8-4 away from the friendly confines of Eric Iverson Field and 12-2 at home.

Both teams scored two runs in the first inning of the opening game before the Lady Norse erupted for three runs in the third and two in the fourth of a 7-3 victory.

Veteran NEO hurler Olivia Prather (10-4) struck out nine and walked one in the complete game effort. Prather surrendered three runs on five hits.

Designated hitter Taylor Makowsky had a double and two singles with two RBI to lead NEO’s 11-hit attack. Bailey Fowler added two singles.

Marissa Lokey and Gracie Garman contributed doubles for the Lady Norse while Prather added a two-run single. Makayla Bowman, Mikalea Workman and Hunter Gilstrap produced singles.

NEO 5, Rose State 4

Maintaining a 5-1 lead going into the bottom of the fifth inning of the nightcap, Prather relieved Makowsky (9-2) to shut down a rally by Rose State (2-4 and 6-17) and preserve the victory.

Makowsky struck out six and walked two while allowing four runs on seven hits in five innings of work.

Along with earning her first save of the season, Prather, batting as a designated hitter, stroked a three-run homer (2) in the top of the second inning to give NEO a 3-1 margin.

Bowman paced the nine-hit Lady Norse offense with three singles, along with base hits by Fowler, Karissa Marshall, Makowsky, Workman and Jordan Wharton.


The Lady Norse host conference foe Carl Albert State College at 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, in a double-header before playing an OCAC twinbill at 5 p.m. Thursday, March 29 against Northern Oklahoma College in Enid.
