QUAPAW — Three players reached double figures, helping the Quapaw boys glide to a 68-42 win over Afton here Tuesday, Jan. 30.

The Wildcats stretched a 17-13 lead in the opening frame to 37-29 by the half.

Quapaw broke the game open with a 21-7 run in the third.

Jonas Gregory had 23 points and Chris Durbin and Drayven Blunk added 11 each for the Cats (7-11).

The Quapaw scoring also included seven from Kai Anderson, six from Caleb Hoffman, Five from Kale Thomasson, three from Jacob Gregory and two from Matt Lovell.

Cole Mikesell and Brett Hollon scored 13 each for Afton (3-9).

Brett Fuser netted eight while Teegan Maupin had five, Briar Julian two and Jesse Saylor one.

Girls: Quapaw 48, Afton 30

The Lady Wildcats got 16 points in the opening frame and carried a 27-18 lead into the half.

Quapaw (9-10) held a 12-5 advantage in the third quarter and 9-7 over the final eight minutes.

Karissa Anderson topped the Quapaw scoring with 12 points. Skyler Evans joined her in double figures with 10.

They were followed by Chloe Tyner, nine; Lu Attocknie, seven; Mya Nichols, six, and Jenni Jennings, four.

Layne Hudson and Carlee Shinn were the leaders for Afton (6-10) with eight and seven points, respectively.

Skyler Hicks and Quetta Woodall scored six each, Ashley Kunkel had two and Sam Saylor chipped in with a free throw.


Afton hosts Ketchum Friday, Feb. 2 then entertains Oklahoma Union on Tuesday, Feb. 6.

Quapaw travels to Commerce on Friday, Feb. 2 and Bluejacket on Monday, Feb. 5.
