QUAPAW — A 12-8 edge in the fourth quarter helped the Quapaw boys nab a 32-29 victory over Fairland here Saturday, Jan. 27.

The Owls (6-11) were up 6-4 and 16-11 after the first two quarters, but Quapaw turned things around with a 9-5 edge in the third.

Chris Durbin and Jonas Gregory headed up a balanced Quapaw scoring attack with eight points.

Jonas Gregory added seven, followed by Kai Anderson and Caleb Hoffman with six each, Kale Thomasson, three, and Draven Blunk, two.

The Owls (7-10) received nine from Thatcher Smalley, seven from Isaac Matthews and four each from Cole Cawlfield and James Morris.

Girls: Quapaw 43, Fairland 37

The Lady Wildcats stretched an 11-10 first-quarter lead into a 22-14 halftime advantage.

Quapaw (8-10) bumped its lead to 30-21 heading into the final stanza, when the Lady Owls held a 16-13 edge.

Karissa Anderson’s 19 points headed up the scoring for Quapaw.

Lu Attocknie netted nine points and Skyler Evans had eight.

Mya Nichols scored four points while Jenni Jennings and Shea Otteson scored two and one, respectively.

Fairland (6-11) got scoring from only three players.

Kyndall Davis and Nikki Dingle had 17 each and Cayden Harper netted three.


Quapaw hosts Afton Tuesday, Jan. 30, and travels to Commerce on Friday, Feb. 2.

Fairland entertains Wyandotte on Tuesday, Jan. 30, and then is at Bluejacket on Friday, Feb. 2.
