Charles F. Harris of Quapaw, Okla., died Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Mo., after an illness. He was 69.
Mr. Harris was born Feb. 18, 1939, in Seneca, Mo., to Ray and Leota (Adams) Harris. He had lived in Peoria all of his life.
He was a memer of the First Baptist Church of Peoria, Okla. He was a farmer and had worked for 24 years at Eagle Picher.
He married Wilma Faye Barnett on May 21, 1960. She preceded him in death on Oct. 4, 1993. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Warren Harris, Claude Harris and Frank Harris, and one sister, Hazel Draper.
Survivors include one son and his wife, Buddy and Valerie Harris of Peoria, Okla., one daughter, Kathy Fitzgerald, and companion, Greg Sappington of Peoria, Okla.; two brothers, Walt Harris of Kansas City, Mo., and Jack Harris of Peoria, Okla.; two sisters, Ruby Dado of Kansas City, Kan., and Nellie Creamer of Baxter Springs, Kan., and four grandchildren, Bandy Harris, Cody Fitzgerad, Tori Harris and Kolton Harris.
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 19, 2008, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Peoria, Okla. The Rev. Audie Tash and the Rev. Gary Rhodes will officiate. Interment will be in Seneca Cemetery in Seneca, Mo.
Pallbearers will be Scott Tynon, Lou Roberts, Steve Crow, Charley Forbis, Tom Detherage Jr. and Tim Own.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Picher, Okla.
