James H. “Jim” Haile passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, Aug. 22, 2007, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.
Jim was born June 25, 1950, in Tulsa to Harvey and Wanda Sanders. Jim graduated from Tulsa Memorial in 1968.
He joined the Air Force for four years and served in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1972.
Jim married Barbara Meinert Haile in 1975. Their son, Jesse Ryan Haile, was born Sept. 26, 1975.
Jim and Barbara and Jesse moved to Miami in 1976 and began his service station business. They were at their last location, “Smile-A-Mile,” for 25 years before Jim's health forced them to close in May 2006.
Jim is survived by his wife, Barbara; his son, Jesse and wife Amy and their children Emie and Locas of Miami; his mother, Wanda Lewis of Oologah, OK; his father, Harvey Sanders, of Bristow, OK; his sisters, Lucinda Spain and her husband Frank of Bristow, OK, Melinda Wood and her husband Gene of Bristow, OK, Jamie Neal and her husband Gary of Tulsa, OK, and Patti Rains of Tulsa, OK.
Arrangements are through Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home.
To honor Jim's wishes, his body will be cremated and no services are planned. There will be a gathering of family and friends at Jesse and Amy's house on Saturday, Aug. 25, 2007, from noon to 2 p.m.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials contributions be made to your favorite charity in care of the funeral home.
