Marjorie Nell “Margie” Longan of Miami died Friday, Aug. 3, 2007, at St. John's Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Mo., after a short illness. She was 78.

Mrs. Longan was born April 14, 1929, in Miami to William Garfield and Nellie Lee (Dukes) Crow. She attended Miami schools and then, in 1970, received her Licensed Practical Nurse degree from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College in Miami. She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for numerous doctors in Miami, including 15 years for Dr. Philip Bryan.

She was a member of Miami First Assembly Church. She enjoyed quilting and embroidery work and loved to read.

On March 11, 1948, she married Gene E. Longan in Miami. He preceded her in death on April 15, 1989.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Lloyd Crow, Harold “Sonny” Crow, and Andy Crow, and one sister, Lucretia Ramsey.

Survivors include her five children, Georgia Lee Sapp of Edmond, Gary L. Longan and his wife Glenda, R. G. Longan, Brenda Stockwell and her husband Ron, and Debra Jean Fisher, all of Miami; two brothers, Grant Crow of Anderson, Mo., and Jack Crow of Miami; three sisters, Bertha Honeycutt of Miami, Dixie McCorkell of West Seneca, and Patsy Spunaugle of Bluejacket, 12 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friend from 3 to 4 p.m. today at Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home in Miami.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home Chapel in Miami with the Rev. Raymond Frizzelle and the Rev. Phil McGechee officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Abbey Memorial Gardens east of Miami. Pallbearers will be Mark Bullard, Jesse Haile, Brad Hopkins, Casey Hopkins, Michael Longan, Randy Longan, Larry McCorkell, Greg Ray, Bo Reese and Terry Spunaugle.

The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer's Foundation in care of the funeral home.
