Ruby Ann Sparks of Miami died Monday, Jan. 14, 2008, at Integris Baptist Regional Health Center in Miami after an illness.
She was 75.
Mrs. Sparks was born Dec. 29, 1932, in Cassville, Mo., to Robert B. and Emma (Lankford) Elledge.
She moved to Joplin, Mo., at the age of 2 and lived most of her life in the Joplin area.
She worked as a secretary for the Joplin Neighborhood Adult Literacy Action for eight years.
She married Fred Mitchell on April 8, 1950. He preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death by two sons, her parents, nine brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include four sons, Montie R. Mitchell and Edsel D. Mitchell, both of Grove, and Lonnie E. Mitchell and Douglas P. Mitchell, both of Joplin; three daughters, Luetisha D. Hogan of Miami, Bridgett M. Evans of Afton and Delia B. Mitchell of Joplin; 26 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Hickory Grove Cemetery, north of Grove.
The Rev. J.C. Walker will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Monty Mitchell, Monty Mitchell II, Randy Hogan, Derek Elledge, Raymond Elledge and Mike Mitchell.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami.
