Edith A. Thomas of Commerce died Monday, Jan. 1, 2007, at Eastwood Manor in Commerce.

She was 92.

Thomas was born Aug. 2, 1914, in Locust Grove to Henry Calvin and Ica Rebecca (Kelly) Nation. She moved to Commerce from Picher in 1948.

She worked in environmental services at Baptist Regional Health Center in Miami, retiring in 1981.

She was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Commerce.

She married Paul Uva “Nick” Thomas on Oct. 11, 1929. He preceded her in death on Feb. 2, 1979. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Rickey Thomas and Paul Dale Thomas; one daughter, Deloris “Dodie” Thomas, four brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include three daughters, Stella June Eddins and Sharon Kay Currey, both of North Miami, and Fawn Gail Peterson of Miami; one half sister, Betty Jones of Springfield, Mo., six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Commerce with the Rev. Howie Moss officiating. Burial will be in G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami.

Pallbearers will be Greg Cossairt, Jim Cossairt, Chris Key, Rickey Paul Thomas, Will Leninger and Gene Hulsey.
