Dorothy J. Wilkins of Bluejacket died Friday, Jan. 4, 2008, at Rosewood Terrace in Vinita.
She was 86.
Mrs. Wilkins was born Feb. 5, 1921, in Eldorado, Kan., to Harry and Florence (Thorpe) Klinger. She graduated from Reno Community High Scool in Nickerson, Kan., and obtained a teaching degree from Emporia State University. She later lived in Bluejacket.
She taught in various schools in California and Texas.
She worked as city clerk in Bluejacket for many years before retiring.
She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Bluejacket, the Sow and Grow Garden Club and the Senior Citizens Group of Bluejacket.
She was an avid homemaker.
She married Lyle Norman Denny in Newkirk. He preceded her in death on Jan. 9, 1999.
She married Carl Wilkins in 1972. He preceded her in death in 1991.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
Survivors include one son and his wife, Kirk and Mary Denny of Bluejacket; one daughter, Karen Denny of Carthage, Mo.; four grandchildren, Meredith Richardson and Kristin Shaffer, both of Bluejacket, Michelle Kralicek of Carthage and Kyle Denny of Bartlesville; and four great-grandchildren, Skyler and Sawyer Richardson and Kaden and Kesley Kralicek.
Services will be 1 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Bluejacket. Pastor Onos Hood will officiate. Burial will be in Bluejacket Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jim Williams, Cloyce Newkirk, Butch Langley, Randy Henry, Norman Harris and Gayle Nigh.
Arrangements are under the direction of Thomas Funeral Home in Welch.
