Michael “Mike” W. Weisinger, formerly of Commerce, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007, at his home in Broken Arrow. He was 48.

Weisinger was born Feb. 13, 1958, in Vinita to Merle and Verna (Long) Weisinger. He grew up in Commerce where he graduated from high school in 1976. He attended Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College and later received a bachelors degree in journalism and his masters degree in law from Tyler University.

He loved sports and played quarterback for the Tulsa Storm semi-pro football team in 1984.

Weisinger was a member of the New Heart Fellowship.

He was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents, Everett and Gwen Long and John and Virginia Weisinger.

Survivors include two daughters, Gwendolyn Weisinger and Gabrielle Weisinger; his mother of Broken Arrow; one aunt, Mary Ireland of Nevada; three uncles, Max Long of Vinita, Arnold Long of Miami and Frank Long of Bluejacket and 10 cousins.

A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at Hayhurst Funeral Home in Broken Arrow with the Rev. Charlie Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at the Bluejacket Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.
