Clarance “Chuck” Cole of Grove died Friday, Jan. 26, 2007, at Grove Nursing Center. He was 72.

Cole was born June 17, 1934, in Fayetteville, Ark., to Charles Clinton Cole and Mary Ann (Kastle) Cole. He grew up in Fayetteville and was a 1952 graduate of Fayetteville High School. He moved to Grove in 1977 from Tulsa.

He was a veteran of the Marine Corps, serving from 1954 to 1961. He earned the National Defense, Korean and United Nations Service Medals.

He worked as a salesman for Firestone Tire Company and OTASCO Stores. He worked as a security guard for the Coves at Bird Island near Grove for almost 20 years. He was a reserve police officer for the Grove Police Department.

He married Carol Hodge on March 22, 1958, in Cardin.

He married Cleona Colleen Hansen in 1981. She preceded him in death.

He was also preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include two daughters, Lou Karleskint and her husband Chris of Grove and Mary Jo Cole of Joplin, Mo.; one son and his wife, Chuck and Laurie Cole of Springdale, Ark.; one brother, George Cole of Grove; six grandchildren, Chase Karleskint, USN, of Norfolk, Va., Nicholas Karleskint and his wife Megan of Grove, Aaron Cole, Megan Cole and Ethan Cole, all of Joplin, and Cassidy Cole of Springdale, Ark., and on great-granddaughter, Gabrielle Karleskint of Grove.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove. Burial will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville, Ark.
