Robert Junior Shamblin died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2007, at St. John's Hospital in Joplin, Mo., after a sudden illness. He was 87.
Mr. Shamblin was born in Bluejacket to Robert B. Shamblin and Lottie Mae (Tiley) Shamblin.
He was a World War II veteran of the Army, serving from 1942 to 1945 and participating in the Aleutian campaign.
He was a switchman for the Rock Island Railroad in El Reno, retiring after a 33 year career. Following retirement, he returned to his family's homestead, near Bluejacket. He held may offices in the Lodge including past-Grand Chaplain, Grand Noble, Chief Patriarch and Retired Major in Camptions, Military Branch of the International Order of the Oddfellows and Rebekahs Lodge No. 63, Miami. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Narcissa.
He was survived by one sister, Imogene Harper, and one brother, Dean Shamblin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Paul Shambin and Raymond Shamblin, and one sister, Elizabeth Pewitt.
Services were 3 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Narcissa with the Rev. Bill Kahler officiating. Burial was in Bluejacket Cemetery.
Military rites were conducted by the American Legion Post No. 147, Veterans' Funeral Detail.
Arrangements were under the direction of Thomas Funeral Home in Welch.
