Arthur F. “Hoppy” Pryor of Miami died Friday, Jan. 26, 2007, at his home after a brief illness. He was 84.
Pryor was born Dec. 25, 1922, in Richpond, Ky., to Arthur Tasso and Eva (Dowdy) Pryor. He lived in the Miami area most of his life.
He was a clerk working for Miami Iron and Metal for 35 years. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Miami. He formerly owned Pryor's 66 Ice House and Pryor Grocery.
He married Norma Marie Culp. She survives, of the home.
Additional survivors include four sons and their wives, Kenneth and Carol Pryor of Pryor, Jack and Donna Sue Pryor and David and Stacy Pryor, all of Miami and Steven and Donna Jo Pryor of Pittsburg, Kan.; one daughter and her husband, Julia and Larry Upshaw of Catoosa; one sister and her husband, Phyllis and Tom Prickett of Scottsdale, Ariz., and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Jean Marie Pryor; his parents; three brothers, Willard Pryor, Beauford Pryor and Virgil Pryor; two sisters, Verna Kirsh and Vera Sloan, and one grandson, Eli David Pryor.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Assembly of God Church in Miami with the Rev. Raymond Frizzelle officiating. Burial will be in G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami.
Pallbearers will be Darren McNeal, Larry Upshaw, Kenneth Pryor, Jack Pryor, Steven Pryor and David Pryor.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami.
