Lenora E. Amphlett of Quapaw, Okla., died Sunday, March 16, 2008, at Higher Call Nursing Center in Quapaw, Okla., after an illness. She was 95.
Lenora was born June 10, 1912, east of Quapaw, Okla.,, near Spring River to Henry W. and Goldie M. (Kiser) Stasell. She lived in Quapaw since 1945, moving from Peoria, Okla. She was a graduate of Quapaw High School.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Quapaw, Okla. She was a member of Woman’s Missionary Union and was the director of the Associations Organization, Spring River HCE and Cherry Red Auxiliary.
She married Paul R. Amphlett. He preceded her in death on Feb. 17, 1972. She was also preceded by her parents and Grandmother Sarah Jane Marsaw Kiser.
Survivors include one daughter, Dorothy E. Amplett of Miami, Okla.; three nieces and their husbands, Shirley and Howard Peterson of Joplin, Mo., Grace and Terry Kropp of Quapaw, Okla., and Glenda and Bruce Huffman of Wichita, Kan., and four nephews and their wives, Gary and Mary Stasell of Peoria, Okla., Jesse and Barbara of Peoria, Okla., Freddie and Mary of Peoria, Okla., and Johnnie and Phyllis of Peoria, Okla.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at 2 p.m. at the Quapaw First Baptist Church in Quapaw, Okla. The Rev. Gerald Dyer, Rev. Kevin Duncan and the Rev. Dale Neal will officiate. Burial will be in G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami, Okla.
Pallbearers will be Johnnie Stasell, Freddie Stasell, Gary Stasell, Terry Kropp, Bruce Huffman, Steve Cooper, Chad Kropp and Jason Huffman. Honorary pallbearers will be Howard Peterson, Jesse Stasell, John Mate, Jim Jennings and John Jennings.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Quapaw First Baptist Church in Quapaw, Okla.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in care of First Baptist Church in Quapaw, Okla., to the Forward in Faith Campaign for GLBA.
Services are under the direction of Plaul Thomas Funeral Home in Picher, Okla.
