Harley E. Minnier Sr., age 73, of Wheaton, Mo., passed away Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008, in his home with his family, after a long battle with cancer.

Mr. Minnier was born Oct. 12, 1934, in Hughesville, Penn. On Nov. 25, 1960, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Mae Russell, who survives.

Ed, as most people know him, received his education in Hughesville, Penn. At age 19, he joined the United States Air Force and served for 20 years. He was a T/sgt. with the North American Air Defense Command Headquarters. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked for the Army and Air Force Exchange until 1993 when he retired the second time.

Ed was a member of the United Methodist Church in Wheaton, Ancorage Masonic Lodge No. 17, Al Aska Shrine Temple, American Legion, the Scottish Rite and the 40 and 8 club.

Survivors include his loving wife, Dorothy, of the home; two sons, Harley E. Minnier Jr. of Fairview, Mo., and Allan J. Minnier Jr.; three stepgrandchildren, George Raybin, Mark Raybin and Lori Pruitt; one great-granddaughter, Tierney Sky Garrison; one step great-granddaughter, Jade Pruitt; one brother, Robert Minnier of Montoursville, Penn., and three sisters, Esther Johnson of Warren, Ohio, Alfreda Sones and June Walsh both of Hughesville, Penn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Marguerite (Scheffler) Minnier; a brother, Harley Eugene Minnier; a sister, Gladys coleman and a great-grandson, Evan Olan Garrison.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 25, 2008, in Wheaton United Methodist Church under the direction of McQueen Funeral Home, Wheaton. Burial with Military Honors will be in Muncie Chapel Cemetery, Wheaton, Mo.

Masonic Rites will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday with visitation to follow until 8 p.m. in McQueen Funeral Home, Wheaton.
