Christine McNeil of Miami died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007, at St. John's Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Mo., after an illness. She was 78 years of age.
She was born Sept. 26, 1928 at Joplin to Charles Wesley and Leona (Bendure) Sweeton. She had lived in Miami for the past two months, moving from Osage City, Kan. She was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church of Picher. She worked as a supervisor for Hallmark Cards for 23 years.
She married Daniel H. McNeil in 1959 in Miami. He survives, of the home. Her parents, one son, Daniel McNeil Jr., Feb. 22, 2000, and one brother, Jack Sweeton, preceded her in death.
Her survivors include her husband, Daniel McNeil, Miami; two grandsons, Daniel McNeil of Junction City, Kan., and Casey McNeil of Topeka, Kan.; four brothers, Jim Sweeton of Baxter Springs, Kan., Chuck Sweeton of Baxter Springs, Bill Sweeton of Columbus, Kan., and Gordon Sweeton of Joplin; two sisters, Pat East of Columbus and Martha Brashers of Commerce, and close friends, Joey and Liza Ginzel of Osage City, Kan.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007, at 2 p.m. at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home of Miami. Rev. Robert Nutting will officiate. Pallbearers will be Mike Sweeton, Huck Parsons, Lyndon Cook, Joe Fleming, Bobby Craghead and Rick Sweeton. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Wymore, Joey Ginzel, Maurice Koch and Scott East.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Paul Thomas Funeral Home of Miami.
