Billy Joe Culver of Grove died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008, at St. John's Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Mo., after an illness.
He was 66.
Mr. Culver was born Jay 18, 1941, in Fairfax to Leonard and Nancy (Sumpter) Culver. He lived in Grove since 1949, moving from Gentry, Ark.
He retired from B.F. Goodrich after 30 years. He was of the Methodist faith, was a lifetime blood donor, a volunteer for Lions, Toys for Tots and Wyandotte Tribe Turtle Tots.
He married Pat Crafton on Sept. 17, 1999, in Seneca, Mo. She survives, of the home.
Additional survivors include one son, David Culver of Oklahoma City; one daughter and her husband, Carol and Greg Thurman of Wyandotte; three stepchildren, Daniel Carlin of Joplin and Dennis Carlin Jr. and Sheona Moore, both of Grove one brother, Curtis Culver of Houston, Texas; two sisters, Betty Culver of Pawhuska and Evelyn Faulkner of Las Vegas, Nev.; two grandchildren, Austin Winkler and Joseph Thurman, and 14 stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and foster parents; two brothers, John and Eddie, and one sister, Judy Turnage.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami.
The Rev. Jackie Crafton will officiate.
Burial will be in Wyandotte Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Clark Nutting, Greg Thurman, David Culver, Odell Turnage, Allan Brodrick and Warren Winkler.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
