Rosetta “Rosie” Hines of Miami passed away Friday, March 7, 2007, at St. John's Medical Center in Joplin, Mo. She was 71.
Rosie was born March 5, 1937, to Lester and Clemma (Rue) Boyd in Miami, Ok., and had lived in Miami all her life.
She married Floyd Hines on Aug. 2, 1955, in Miami and he preceded her in death in 1994.
Rosie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Commerce where she was very active for several years.
Rosie served as food service director for Commerce Public Schools for several years till her retirement. She also cooked for Miami Public Schools and was very proud to own and operate The Country Book Store after she retired. Rosie was employed at the Wyandotte Pre-School where she cooked for the children called “Turtle Tots.” She often said, “It was her favorite in all her careers.”
Rosie was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Jack Allen Boyd, and one sister, Sharon Kay Boyd.
Survivors include one son, Doug and Linda Hines of Tulsa, Ok.; four daughters, Linda Hines and John Reece of Miami, Ok., Debbie Hines of Chelsea, Ok., Janice Hines and Larry Crouch of Joplin, Mo., and Judy and Danny Petitt of Miami, Ok.; one brother, Jim and Linda Boyd of Miami, Ok.; grandchildren, Lisha, Lyndell, Lana, Shane, Amber, Casey, Ryan, Britney, Michael, Kristen and Kaytlyn, 14 great-grandchildren and one special niece, Ruby Boyd.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at the First Baptist Church of Commerce with the Rev. Bill Bissell officiating. Interment will follow in the G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami.
Pallbearers will be Shane Thompson, Casey Perry, Ryan Perry, Mark Boyd, Gary Hines and Joe Hines. Honorary pallbearers will be Micheal Crouch, Sam Hines and Scott Boyd.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami.
Services will be under the direction of the Paul Thomas Funeral Home of Miami.
