Thelma Louise Walker of Broken Arrow, formerly of Miami, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2007, at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa. She was 84.
Thelma was born March 12, 1923, in Grove to Parker Grover and Cleo Ninette (Mitchell) Johnston. She was a lifelong resident of Miami. She recently moved to Broken Arrow to be with family.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Altar Society, DAV Ladies Auxiliary and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
Thelma married Anthony Samuel Walker on Jan. 4, 1944. He preceded her in death on Oct. 5, 2003. She was also preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
Survivors include her son, Anthony “Tony” Walker and his wife Suzie of Broken Arrow; one sister and her husband, Mary and John Fahnestock of North Miami; four brothers and their wives, Junior and Peggy Johnston of Huntington, W.V., Virgil and Lola Johnston of Deland, Fla., and Marvin and Barbara Johnston and Eldon and Nancy Johnston, all of Miami; three grandchildren, Christopher Walker, Nicholas Walker and Samantha and Robert Goff; three great-grandchildren, Anna, Ashley and Isaac Goff, and a host of nieces and nephews.
The Rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 18, 2007, at Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home in Miami.
The funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 19, 2007, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Miami. Father Gregg Elliott will officiate. Burial will be in Ottawa Indian Cemetery.
The pallbearers will be Christopher Walker, Nicholas Walker, Steve Johnston, Glenn Johnston, David Johnston and Tim Johnston. Honorary pallbearers will be Isaac Goff, Anna Goff and Ashley Goff.
Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society and sent in care of the funeral home.
