Hiram E. “H.E.” Price Jr. of Miami died Thursday, March 6, 2008, at his home.
He was 90.
Mr. Price was born July 17, 1917, in Welch to Hiram E. and Lucy (Brown) Price. He graduated from Welch High School with the class of 1935. He retired to Grand Lake in 1975. He moved to Miami in 1998.
He was employed by the Department of Defense during during World War II and received a commendation from the Secretary of War for his work on the “A-Bomb” in 1945.
He was ordained an Assembly of God minister and pastored the Rogers Community Church. He was also a farmer stockman. He was an active member of Northwest Assembly of God Church in Miami.
He married Jannie Maxine Shrum on Jan. 12, 1939. She preceded him in death on April 26, 1996. He was also preceded in death by one son, Roy Leon Price; his parents; 12 brothers and sisters; one grandson, Brian David Price, and two great-grandchildren.
He married Ruth Bennett Boren on Jan. 29, 2000 in Afton. She survives, of the home.
Additional survivors include two sons and their wives, Hiram and Sandra Price III and Patrick and Penny Price, all of Miami; one daughter, Nancy Price Smith of Afton; three stepsons and their wives, Allyn and Lucinda Boren and Roger and Lisa Boren, all of Vinita, and Russell and Ruth Ann Boren of Adair; one brother and his wife, Aubrey and Bonnie Price of Oswego, Kan.; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren, and one stepgrandchild.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Thomas Funeral Home in Welch. Wayne Ray and the Rev. Minnie Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Welch City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mike, Steven and Larry Price, Justin Curnutte and Levi and Israel Boren. Honorary pallbearers will be David and Doug Price and Jordan Boren.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. today at Thomas Funeral Home in Welch.
