David Leroy Brodrick died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2008, after an extended illness. He was 58.

Mr. Brodrick was born April 29, 1950, in Wyandotte to Mervin and Ila Brodrick. He attended school in Miami. He later lived in the Grove area.

He was a veteran of the Army, serving from 1969 to 1973 with two years of service in Germany.

He held a number of jobs in and around the Grove area including driving a school bus for the Miami and Grove public schools and serving the Jay and Grove areas as a paramedic. He was also self-employed.

He married Evelyn Lois Baty of Miami on Oct. 29, 1971. She survives.

Additional survivors include one daughter and her husband, Sunni and David Porter of Grove; two sons, Jeremy Brodrick and wife Jennifer of Grove and Jeffrey Brodrick of Bartlesville; his mother, of Miami; one brother and his wife, Ivan and Kathy Brodrick of Miami; one sister and her husband, Diane and Jim Walker of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and three grandchildren, Emily and Megan Porter and Tucker Brodrick, all of Grove. He was preceded in death by his father.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Delaware Baptist Church. Burial will be in Olympus Cemetery in Grove. Pallbearers will be David Porter, Jeremy Brodrick, Carl Holt, Johnny Stroud, Lee Brodrick, Darin Stroud, Dustin Holland and Jarrell Gray. Honorary pallbearers are Ivan Brodrick and Jim Walker. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove.
