Marvin Harold Sheldon died Monday, April 30, 2007, after a short battle with cancer. He was 86.

Sheldon was born June 4, 1920, in Mobridge, S.D., to George W. and Martha H. Sheldon. He moved with his family to Wheaton, Minn., during high school, graduating in 1938. He lived in Milbank, S.D.; Omaha, Neb.; Denver, Colo.; Tioga, N.D.; Center, N.D.; Ray, N.D., and Miami.

He was a World War II veteran of the Army Air Corp, serving in the Pacific Theater as an aircraft mechanic.

He worked as a steelworker and boilermaker at various shops and retired while in Center from power plant construction in 1983.

He married Ardith A. Cawelti on June 9, 1946, at a rural church near Tenney, Minn. She survives.

Additional survivors include one son and his wife, Ray and Joyce of Huntley, Mont.; one daughter and her husband, Lorie and Pete Padilla of Parker, Colo.; two brothers, Aubrey and his wife Beryl of Rogers, Ark., and Ralph of Sisseton, S.D., and six grandchildren, Joshua and Aaron Sheldon, Jade Eberle and Justin, Ty and Brandon Padilla.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, George, and one grandson, Lee Wayne.

A service to celebrate his life will be 2 p.m. May 27 at Beaver Creek Church, 25 miles south of Ray, N.D.
