Ruth Marie Maxson of Welch died Saturday, March 15, 2008, at Grand Lake Villa in Grove. She was 91.

Mrs. Maxson was born March 20, 1916, in Missouri to Schyler and Lena (Barrett) Richardson.

She was a homemaker and, with her husband, owned and operated a ranch north of Welch from 1940 until 1989 when she continued to run the ranch by herself. She worked as a bookkeeper for Maxson Sales Company from 1945 to 1978 and Maxson Auction Service from 1945 to 1989. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Welch, Beta Sigma Phi, the Order of the Eastern Star, Economic Development of Welch, the Welch Public School Enrichment board and Welch Lions Club.

She married Wauyaugh Maxson on Dec. 25, 1938, in Oswego, Kan. He preceded her in death on July 13, 1989.

Survivors include one son, Rockne Maxson of Miami; two daughters, Joyce Maxson of Grove and Linda Woodall and her husband John of New Braunfels, Texas; seven grandchildren, Craig Walker, Sherri Mount, Amanda and Jack Woodall and Josh, Nick and Megan Maxson, and five great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Jarred and Jennifer Walker, and Jacob and Hannah Mount.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church of Welch. The Rev. Gary Moody will officiate. Burial will be in Welch City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Stan Corn, Craig Walker, Jack Woodall, Josh and Nick Maxson, Jonathan and Jarred Walker and Jacob Mount.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Thomas Funeral Home in Welch.
