Paul Louis Jirele of Miami died Saturday, March 22, 2008, at St. Johns Medical Center following a brief illness.

He was 79.

Mr. Jirele was born Jan. 13, 1929, in Owatonna, Minn., to Louis A. and Adelaide H. (Krause) Jirele.

He graduated from Blooming Prairie High School.

He received a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Minnesota in 1952.

He was a veteran of the Army.

He worked for B.F. Goodrich in Akron, Ohio, and then in Miami for more than 30 years.

He married Dolores M. Palmer on Sept. 15, 1956, in Joliet, Ill. She survives, of the home.

Additional survivors include two sons, Michael A. Jirele and wife Debbie of Bartlesville and Paul T. Jirele of Oklahoma City, and one grandchild, Sarah Danielle Jirele.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. Gregg Elliott will officiate. Burial will be in G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami.

Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Cooper Althouse Funeral Home in Miami.
