Bette Charlene Malcolm, 88-year-old longtime Miami area resident passed away Saturday July 27, 2019 in Miami, Oklahoma.
Bette was born on July 8th 1931 in Narcissa, Oklahoma to Charley G. and Rosa Mae (Franklin) Blevins. She attended Fairland Schools and graduated in 1949. After high school Bette went on to Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College where she would graduate with an associates degree. Bette and Tommy Malcolm were united and marriage on September 29, 1953 . She followed Tommy to Europe and all over the United States with his Military Career. After Tommy’s retirement they made Miami, Oklahoma their permanent home. Bette worked for many years as a office manager for Otasco. She loved tending to her flower garden and loved to travel, but above all she loved her family and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Bette was preceded in death by her husband Tommy Malcolm, two brothers Clifford Blevins and Roy Blevins and two sisters Cecil Newman and Pauline Zimmerman.
Bette is survived by two daughters, Mona Boyd and husband Steve of Miami, Oklahoma, and Lee Ann Walker and Fiance David Giles of Bluejacket, three grandchildren, Mackenzie Oakley of Miami, Oklahoma, Jordan Leader of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Matt Walker and wife Keesha of Miami, Oklahoma. Bette is also survived by four great grandchildren Ryder Oakley, Blake Oakley, Oakley Walker, and Halle Walker, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Bette will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday August 3, 2019 at First Baptist Church in Miami, Oklahoma. Reverend Rick Longcrier will officiate. Serving as casket bearers will be Darin Dameron, Steve Boyd, David Giles, Jordan Leader, and Matt Walker. A visitation for friends and family will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 2, 2019 also at First Baptist Church in Miami.
