Thelma J. Davis, 84, of Miami, Okla. went to join the Lord on Sunday, Dec. 27, 2015 at Windridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Home.
Thelma was born April 18, 1931 in Odessa, Texas to Olen and Evelyn (Holloway) Upchurch.
She was a secretary for an oil equipment manufacturer.
Thelma loved to tell people that she served in the United States Marine Corp and was so proud she had her concealed carry license to carry a firearm; a lot of the young men in her class were surprised to see a senior lady wearing her Marine Corp Hat and shooting a weapon better than most of them.
She was a member of the American Legion and the V.F.W.
Mrs. Davis moved to this area in 1996 from Hobbs, N.M.
She is preceded in death by her late husband Clyde Davis in 1996, her parents, one son Miles Preston Graham, three brothers: Richard, Miles and Bobby Upchurch, four sisters: Modena Collins, Betty Creason, Nancy Powell and Frieda Richardson.
Survivors her husband Don Cook of Carlsbad, N.M., one sister: Edna Close of Grove, Okla., and one granddaughter Presleigh Graham of Tulsa, Okla.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015 at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami, Okla. with Brother Ray Clonts officiating. Interment will follow in the Glen Abbey Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of the Paul Thomas Funeral Home of Miami, Okla.
