SENECA — An employee of the Milnot Company died Saturday in work-related accident.

Larry Poe, 42, of Seneca suffered a fatal head injury while installing a palletizer, according to Ottawa County Undersheriff Bob Ernst.

Milnot, a subsidiary of J.M. Smucker, manufactures canned milk. The factory straddles the state line that separates Oklahoma and Missouri, near Seneca.

According to Wyandotte Fire Chief Jodi Francisco, Missouri emergency personnel were dispatched to the location shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday. While enroute, Seneca Fire was alerted that the accident occurred in the portion of the factory located on the Oklahoma side.

“We (Wyandotte Fire) were then dispatched to the location with extrication equipment,” Francisco said. “We were on the scene from about 10:15 p.m. until 3 a.m.”

A palletizer is a is a device used to stack and organize factory products onto a pallet.
